Calculating total expenses and other budget information is done automatically once a year. The first time you use The Stabilizer in the month that you choose as the "Start Month" for your budget you will get the message "It's time to recalculate, do it now?". If you click on "Yes" The Stabilizer will recalculate all budget information. If you click on "No" you will get the same message the next time you open The Stabilizer.

To calculate or recalculate totals and other budget information you must go to the "Year Totals" card and click on the "Recalculate" button. The Stabilizer does not automatically recalculate every time you change some data, because most of the times that you change data it will be for the next year's budget and you may want to keep using the present year's totals.
